Billy co-founded Bonaventure Capital with Steve Dauphin in 1998 and directs all public market activities for the firm, as well as assisting with the firm's private market activities.
From 1996 to 1998, Billy was employed by Harbert Management Corporation, an investment management firm, where he acted as Director of Investments before leaving to start Bonaventure. From 1994 to 1996, he was Vice President of Treasury Management for SouthTrust Corporation, a bank holding company headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama (now Wells Fargo). From 1992 to 1994 he was an associate at Smith Breeden Associates (now Amundi Smith Breeden), an institutional asset management and consulting firm specializing in the major U.S. fixed income sectors.
Billy graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.E. in electrical engineering and mathematics and from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University with an MBA. Billy earned his Chartered Financial Analyst charter and remains a member of the CFA Institute.
